Substance Over Performance
How an auroral dream mirrored my choice to disengage from an organization that protects reputation over people
This is an auroral dream lesson about discernment, rest, and sovereignty, and how those themes mirrored a waking choice I made to step away from a large organization that no longer felt aligned with me.
In the dream, I was in what felt like a workplace that seemed friendly at first. Then I said I needed to lie down and rest. When I first said I needed to lay down, the room that was mine was not available, as if they took the room to use for something else. I went into another room and saw an old blanket from my mom’s house. A man got upset when I said I needed to rest and that I did not want to go with them where they were going. I told him I had a migraine.
The room I went into was not mine. In the dream it belonged to Kendall Jenner, a reality TV person I do not care for because she feels like a bully to me. She was standing in the room. The room was dark, the lights were off, like I could lie down to nap. But when they kept interfering with my desire to rest, I chose to leave and go home to get the sleep I needed and wanted. The man was angry that I left.
On my way home I was with someone I knew, and we stopped somewhere to get food. I wanted real food, like breakfast food, but when I looked up at the menu it was all sweet packaged foods with watermelon flavor. I remember a poor girl next to me counting coins, trying to get something to eat, and they were not helping her. I noticed and said, “Give her what she wants, I will pay for it.” I remember she was looking to buy sausage. I kept looking for something real, but it was still all desserts with watermelon flavor.
After that I remember looking for a car to go home, trying to catch a cab, and I still felt that man’s anger about me leaving.
Through Thoth’s teachings on auroral dreaming as shared by Maia Nartoomid, this reads as guidance rather than entertainment. The dream trains discernment in a visceral way. It shows what happens when you name a sacred need and a system reacts with control or anger. It also shows the difference between real nourishment and substitutes that look appealing but do not feed. The girl counting coins becomes an ethical bell in the dream, a reminder that integrity is revealed by how the vulnerable are treated when it is inconvenient.
This mirrors my waking experience with a large organization that publicly presents as advocating for parents and children, but privately allowed bullying dynamics and failed to implement meaningful protections. I witnessed how policies were used in ways that felt designed to silence members and protect the organization’s image rather than protect people. In the Thoth lens, that gap between appearance and lived integrity is distortion. The dream confirmed what my waking life had already shown me. When rest, truth, or harm is named, the real structure of a system reveals itself. My choice to leave in the dream matched my choice to disengage in waking life, and my body reads that parallel as clean alignment.
What I take forward is simple. Choose substance over performance. Choose real care over public relations. Choose nourishment over substitutes. Keep compassion alive, and keep boundaries strong enough to walk away from environments that punish honesty and protect harm.
Wild Sanative integration can help seal the lesson into the body. A gentle Lavender plus Chamomile tea before bed supports downshifting the nervous system and creating a calmer inner environment for dream recall. Sip it slowly as part of a simple nighttime ritual, then keep a dream journal by the bed and write a few lines upon waking, even if it is brief. If you want extra support and structure, the Wild Sanative app is a helpful companion because it includes herbal remedies and simple guidance designed to support things like relaxation, sleep quality, and dream recall. Using an herbal ally consistently for a short window of time, paired with journaling, can make it easier to retain impressions and track repeating themes.
